Free Credit Scores to North Carolina Residents

Fiscal Progress has announced that North Carolina residents are now able to receive free credit scores and credit reports. Because of software and funding provided by Freddie Mac, there is no cost to the client.

Certified Housing Counselors at Fiscal Progress can pull your credit scores without causing your score to drop (soft inquiry). There is no attempt to obtain debt, so it does not affect your score like it would if a lender pulled your credit.

There are a couple of big advantages to this free program. First, unlike the federally mandated annualcreditreport.com service, you may get 2 of your credit scores free.

Second, because the program is sponsored by Freddie Mac, you can also find out if you meet preliminary conditions for homeownership. You know right away if you are ready for applying for your first home mortgage.

According to Certified Credit Counselor Daniel Johnson, “the program really works well because it gives you your scores, explains how your score was calculated and provides additional feedback on your mortgage qualification possibilities. You get copies of everything as well as a free counseling session to help you understand specific items on your credit report.”

In order to receive your scores, you must either contact Fiscal Progress or Vision Credit Education directly and request an appointment. You may search for an office near you.
